I introduced a new tank mate to my cichlids, a NORMAL Convict cichlid. i was tired of PINK. and i think it turned out very nicly. i have to re-do the tank as i have it set up as african not american, but thats alright. it'll get done eventually. i wanna get a pair of Clown loaches, a few Ghost shrimp or various fresh water shrimp, and 2 firemouth cichlids. then it'll be fantastic. ALTHOUGH not in the hexagon. those are going in my new bowfront soon as i have it :D

Misadventures with Poptart and Vodka

Well this week was defenetly fun :D Hanging out with Mr. Right & Pop Tart was a blast. We decided to go for sushi on Robson street. FANTASTIC sushi btw. I loved it. And i got to meet her Old friend hehe. He was a lil more outgoing than otto i think :P it was fun. Forgive my lack of elaboration but i'm slightly indisposed at the moment.(No i don't mean in a dirty way :P just work)


But After sushi, there was Fantasy factory and an elaborate lesson on the pro's and con's of System JO Water based anal & Silicon lube. (Close your eyes mom :P) So apparently even tho System JO Anal water based lube is called "Anal" it's actually not recommended. apparently it can cause some minor tearing because it doesn't coat the areas effectively. Hmm i'd never have known hehe.


And the Silicon lube is OMG!!! I put some on my hands and walked around the store for a bit, walked from Granville street to BC Liqueur by Yaletown and MY HAND WAS STILL SLICK... no sticky's. impressive.


After buying the right bottle of vodka, we headed back to Mr Rights Dragging pop tart & Her friend with us.

So Drinking was fun. Vodka, some drama, pop tart dancing, lace & Pink bra. Enuf said

And the following night Mar, Mr.Right, Poptart & I enjoyed Eagle Eye. i was surprised how good that movie was :D Very much worth the 2 hours.


I'm craving a sex machine haha.(DRINK) What could be better than Baileys and Kahlua with milk :P

Misadventures on the couch, watching Glee, and shreaking!!!

So today is the season Premier of GLEE!!!. The show that EVERYONE loves. As i sat in the living room, watching the premier, a sense of , well glee washed over me. haha. I love good music, musicals of any kind. It's why i love Ellen so much. Her talk show is so chalked full of Talented people off YouTube and such, it's fantastic.


Well, Back to glee!!!. I've always been a fan of Cory Monteiths work, since he was in Kyle XY. even his brief extra work in Stargate. (he's such a cutie) And although he's not the greatest singer, He makes it work. I loved his contributions to Empire state of mind tonight! Oh what the hell. i just LOVE that song ;) It's fantastic!!!



AND lets not forget Charice!!! Hello Vocals. she sure makes Rachael run for the hills. That gurl has such a strong vocal talent that Rachael is Scared to death of being a swaying hum in the background she's ready to do ANYTHING to make sure Her star status is protected.


Even sending Charice to a crack house to keep her from auditioning.


Because it's early i can't find the rest of the music for Glee yet, hehe It's not yet all uploaded to YouTube yet :(


Oh and don't even get me started on the shreking. I'm LOUD. i should duct tape my mouth shut while watching Glee!!!. Seriously. I didn't know i'd be that loud haha. It's a great show, great music, and the twists and turns are fan-bloody-tastic.

AND did you get a look at that football coach!!! Talk about BUTCH!!. She makes me look like a fly. Seriously i'm watching and imagining her looking at me, and squashing me for being such a nancy boy. (i'm not that bad but i can be on occasion :P)

Misadventures with myself?

Talk about a misadventure!!!

I'm sitting at home, Thinking about going to see Mr Right, and decide my leg needs to be looked at after Mr A. Gets the thought of spider bites in my head. I'm freaking out researching online about them, and RUN into the Hospital. I get there and tell the Triage nurse that I've either got spider bites or I had some fun with the wrong person. (laugh out loud moment haha)

So after a lengthy wait, I finally get in to see the doctor. who Proceeds to tell me he's going to cut my leg open. And my neck. I'm like OMFG. He gives me the option of numbing my neck and leg, but tells me it won't work long term. I'm like GIVE ME THE NEEDLE!!!.

After a few moments of shrieking while my body is numbed, He starts digging out my leg.(i still don't have much of an idea what he's up to or why he's doing it). Mild screaming, a few moments of profanity, taking the lords name in vain twice, and calling the doctor some words that would make trailer park trash look classy follow as my leg gets lanced. Then comes the neck. Let me tell you, the poor pen that was being used and abused by me while I'm getting cut apart hasn't been the same since.

The doctor leaves, and comes back to notify me i have a staph infection. MRSA to be exact. I'm given 3 options. 1, leave with oral antibiotics. 2, Receive Two 2mg IV bags of Vicomayacin and oral antibiotics, or 3, Receive a blood test to check for infections, do the IV Vanco, AND further IV therapy sessions. He goes over the pro-s and con-s of IV and such, eventually scares me into taking number 3. so i get my blood test done, and wait for my IV. After 2 mis's in the IV department, and no cutie pie nurse like in Abbotsford to aid in my torture(a previous hospital visit involved blood work from a 2nd year nursing student who hadn't mastered blood work yet. Mmmm luv me some Latin nurse :D) Eventually the nurse running the Mild treatment section of the ER helps with the iv. and then comes the fun stuff :D


It seems most people who take vanco experience mild itching, but i had full blown Itching, chest pains, and a mild asthma attack. It was fantastic. 5 minutes in they give me Benadryl via IV. and the next 2 hours are FAN BLOODY TASTIC. If you've never had Benadryl via IV, i seriously suggest giving it a try.(only if you need it that is :P) I thought a week worth of Morphine Drip was fun, this is better. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to advocate the mis use of drugs, but when needed, some of them can be pretty fun.


Well after that wonderful evening in the emergency, I have 2 more days of IV outpatient therapy to attend. and the wonderful Nurse who runs Outpatient daycare is named Pat. she loves to inflict massive amounts of pain upon her patients. i sit in my chair, Iv almost done, as she lances and squeezes Mr cutie's rather larger staph infection(thank god i didn't get that bad) Mmm he was so cute :P OK back on topic. hehe.

As he's getting lanced and squeezed like a lemon, i laugh. AND Pat looks at me, grins and says "YOUR NEXT ;)" Good mood is officially over.

Luckily as i squirm, gasp, and shriek, I've got Mr Cutie to look at :P (and to endure mild mocking from as i am SO not a Manley man.

Day 2 of IV outpatient therapy, and i have to wait for the doctor to see me. He looks at me, says I'm done, and squeezes my leg. of course it has to ooze, so pat starts up again with the leg. Boy does she love squeezing out legs. and if that wasn't bad enough , she has to move onto my neck. Oh boy do they love bugging me there. While I'm in the room with the doctor, a nice woman decides to check out Scentsy. I'd left my catalogs and scents out. i get back and there's no more catalogs and my scents are being passed around. OK. random lady doing my work for me. i can handle that :D(it's nice when my work sells its self :P)


After a few hours of IV drip, I'm ready to go home :D now lets just remind the world, MRSA is painful... My arm hurts like HELL since my iv was removed, my leg hurts like hell, my neck hurts like hell, every muscle in my body hurts. it's horrible. Is it weird that i enjoy going to hospitals? i don't think I'd admit that to anyone personally, but it's not the worst thing in the world.

I've been seriously debating weather i should give it a shot or not, and have decided that it's gonna happen. Right now I've got my rock feature in the center of my hexagon, 7 Albino Convict Cichlids(from what i can tell, I've got a few pairs of lesbians in that tank, so THANK god i won't end up with more babies)

And of course, I've got an under gravel filtration system. because I'm too cheap for a power-head, I've got the water level about a quarter cm lower than the tube, and my aqueon filter tube inside it(extended about half way down the tank) so it's sucking the water through the tube and out into the tank.(GENUS) hehe

So far they seem to be enjoying themselves, I've also got the Frog tank all finished and am hoping Laura will get her camera out and take some pictures of both tanks. the cichlid tank needs some help first, as I'm not happy with the rock feature yet. i did find a BEAUTIFUL piece of Jade in the coquihalla river, and put that in the tank :D it looks fantastic!!! the cichlids seem to love it. they've got tons of room to swim around as their only the size of a Loonie right now(loonies for those who don't know are 1 dollar coins in Canada)

Misadventures With Mr Right

I've always been a Hopeless Romantic. Always loving Disney movies for their fantastic love stories, and I always hoped to find a "Prince Charming". although live itself is no Disney movie. In fact, far from it. I guess it's rather immature to base your hopes and dreams where love is concerned on a fairy tail, but I'm still guilty as charged :P

After years and years of searching, random mis-adventures with various guys, dates gone wrong, and of course, those relationships that you just stay in cause your lonely, knowing you'd be better off as friends. I have to admit, my last relationship was pretty damn awesome. Aside from the occasional communication malfunctions, and my difficulty with emotions(I'm a work in progress ;) ) it was still really good(at least I thought it was :P)

And I now have the chance to give it another shot :) which is pretty awesome. Now imagine me, Mr awkward. being put on the spot, and demanded upon to pull an emotional feelings conversation. well as i sit in the dining room, my mind literally turns to mush. i can't figure out what to say, I'm flooded with all these feelings and memories. Instead i sit awkwardly downing a spiked slushy.(adding White Grape Cider to a mountain dew slushy is GENIUS)

But after a few VERY awkward minutes of conversation, Things are going in the direction i thought they were going to go before i left home. in fact the minute the words - There's something i want to talk about - left his fingers(how awkward living in a digital era) I had my suspicions as to what the conversation would be like.

That aside, lets not forget a certain someones Giddy thoughts & feelings. In the time I've known Mar, I've come to realize she's got one Fiery Personality. she's opinionated, driven & emotionally intense  just like her astrological sign. For the first time I've seen her with a "Special someone" ;) They were insanely cute together :p As I'm chattin it up with Mr Right at the counter, trying to fumble through how i feel about him, I'm picking up on all these Giddy feelings. i soon realize there coming from Mis Mar. (i think she likes her new guy :P)


haha how did i get on the topic of Mar & her cutie? I'm totally lost haha. ANYWAYS, it's super early, i didn't get much sleep, I made the mistake of forgetting my inhailer at home and There is a Feather Pillow lover here.*Cough* *Cough*

Caroline Mines & The Fish

So as i mentioned in the camping blog, there are people fishing off the coquihalla river now. The Othello area of the river has been closed to fishing because of the Caroline Mines. When the mines were open, there was a lot of pollution poured into the river, fishing was scarce. It's pretty scary thinking about it all. Well I found out that the river was opened up to fishing, only catch N Release. The Stealhead & Trout are starting to come back in full force. i think salmon is also starting to come back(EXCITING)

BUT at the same time the river starts to come back to life, The mines are opened again. I'm afraid with the fish issues, that their going to start polluting the river. I' love to fish, but i also believe in Respecting the river. the fish are scarce right now, so you respect the river. if you start pouring shit into it, your gonna kill the fish. there already rare in the area. (I'm just going on a rant.)


I'm not 100% clear on the history of the river and the mines, but I'm so excited the Trout & Steelhead are back. For those who don't know, the fisher guy described it perfectly. Steelhead are just Trout who got it in their heads to head into the ocean after spawning. It's pretty wicked.

Camping - Labor Day Long Weekend :D

I thought I'd share with y'all my camping trip, as there's something in it that I'm sure NO ONE should miss.


So it's Friday, and I've slept in. I realize it's like 1 in the afternoon. AND I'm freaking out. I woke up to the Door buzzer going off. with my clothes still in the washing machine, and me, having a down N out week haven't showered in 2 days(maybe 3 but I'm giving myself the benefit of the doubt ;) )

So I begin to rush. I'm running around the house like a chicken with it's head cut off. I grab my food, my bag, and my computer, and I'm out the door. I forget my Pillow, Blanket & a spare pair of jeans. I even leave my shoes at home. don't forget the socks that are still in the laundry basket.


I pretty much leave with a pair of white track pants and a EXTRA Small pair of shorts. flip flops.

Anyways, Lorne & I get to his building, pack up his stuff, and leave for Othello. After we arrive, and are setting up, i get started on my tent. head into the trailer to grab the air mattress, and find Lorne did some spring cleaning the weekend before. I'm like OMFG. I realize I'm screwed. no blanket, no pillow, no air mattress, NOTHING!!!. well, i decide to wing it just that one night. but before we can get to my mis adventure that evening, we've got to finish on our day :P


When we arrived to our camping spot, there were two trucks parked there, as the river had just been opened up for fishing. Granted it's only Catch N Release at the moment, the Fishing hobbiests are still pouring in. after we've gotten our camp fire going and are relaxing, our fisherman friend comes back to his truck. we get through the introductions, and i soon feel guilty because i forgot another name. but aside from that, we make small talk, enjoy some wine, and the rest of the afternoon/evening. Fishermen eventually decides to head into Hope for a bit. Leaving Lorne & myself all alone at the camp site.

Well after Lorne bugs me about not eating hot dogs, and we engage in some good conversation, lets estimate the time at around 8:30pm. It's dark out already, were sitting at the camp fire. about 10 minutes prior to this misadventure, a white jeep drives past and I'd assumed gone over the hill to head back into town.

As were sitting around the camp fire, I notice someone walking towards us. I'm very alert there, as it's known for it's Bigfoot sightings, among other various paranormal sightings during the camping season.

Well this person is walking towards us. i realize it's a woman, I'm guessing late 20's or early 30's. as she walks towards us, i realize notice somethings missing. i can't quite put my finger on it.
Well, as she walks up to us, i realize whats missing. SHE'S NAKED!!!. she's wearing a shirt that is about 5 inches too short, barely covering her breasts, and SEE THROUGH. she's got stockings coming up just about 80% of her legs, and NO UNDERWEAR!!!. She's got a cigarette in her left hand, her underwear twirling around her index finger; right hand. I'm sitting there like WTF!!! she asks for a light. up till now, Lorne hasn't looked at her. i get up to get her a lighter, and Lorne takes a look. his exact words after are"It's like a car accident on the highway. you can't help but to look."

Lorne's Eye is a little better than mine, as he realizes she's shaved. TMI moment? eh haha.

well after she gets her light, she stands there looking vulnerable for a little while, and eventually leaves. She probably drove by, seeing two young good lookin guys sitting around a camp fire drinking, and thought Hey!!! Imma get lucky tonight ;) Little did she know that she'd walked into the camp of two very gay men. If only Laura was there :P She would have pointed to the girls lady region and said " You missed a spot ;) " Oh it would have been priceless :P

The rest of the camping trip was very uneventful, Lots of wind, some KICK ASS Fish n Chips, a super harsh rain/lightning storm, more wind, and more rain. a few trips into hope proved to be very eventful, i managed to get The Sound Of Music on record :D So Exciting hehe

Oh & lets not forget my basket of fruit(no pun comments please :P) got attacked by some mice while sleeping. i was so disappointed. i wanted my peach. lmao.

I found this great site all about Discus, called Discus Madness!!!

The site has a FYI Section with all the info needed to keep discus, what tank mates are required, food requirements, basically anything you needed to know about Discus in one great informational site :D it's fantastic.

On top of the site, they also SELL discus & Tank mates. Plus food, and other Discus related items.(i haven't had the chance to go through the whole site yet, but i'm definitely loving it so far :D)

They even have recommendations on Bio-Filters for Optimum discus health. This site is an AWESOME website. Definitely a 10/10 from me!

Although i don't believe they ship to Canada, i still think their a fantastic site. just for information alone. What are your thoughts about the site? Common people There is a comment box for a reason :P LETS USE IT !!! lol

New Hexagon setup & re-vamp of the 20Gallon Breeder tank :D

So I've re-done Laura's and my own tanks. mine is still a work in progress. i need to get the hood, and filter(canister preferred)


So here is what i've done :D


For the hexagon, i took all the sand out of the tank(it was very messy when doing gravel clean-ups) now it is comprised of almost all my Carrot stick gravel(reddish & mixed from petsmart & the guildford mall pet store.)

After long thought & consideration, I've decided to get a dual Hood light for the hexagon, and have a Glow Light & Flora max bulb and get some kick Ass plants for the tank. with a fantastic rock feature in the back(by the under-gravel filter tube). the rock feature is still a work in progress, but it's coming along nicely :D

I'm going to get a cleaning crew of Ghost Shrimp & Dwarf Pleco for the Hexagon as the space restraints make a larger animal slightly disoriented. i don't think it's humane to have a Pleco thats going to grow to 15 inches long in a 1ft Long x 2 ft tall fish tank(aprox)


On top of the Pleco & Ghost shrimp, I'm thinking of having 2 or 3 Angel fish in my hexagon.(FRESHWATER) and including some BLACK neon Tetra's and some obscure tropical fish that are more of a dwarf fish.(The smaller the better) since i don't want to have a 6 inch fish in a hex.(not cool)


For laura's tank i decided to mix the best of both worlds, with a whimsical and biotopic design. we have a penn Plax air stone in a disk shape, for volcano's or rock features.  i decided to stick it in the center of the tank and have the rocks in a pyramid shape over top. with some of the "BAMBOO" and Grassy plants coming from the center. with the bubbles all around. i also bunched the plants up all around the rock feature, put a slight path from the castle on the left hand side going to the middle of the tank where the rocks are, and had a WHISPER rock feature Filter in the far right hand side. for those who are unaware what the whisper rock feature is, it's a hollow plastic rock, usually with a U shape on the bottom so the fish can Swim under it, and it sits flush with the back of the tank. it holds a 10 or 20 gallon filter in it, and the water trickles down the rocks. it also hides your heater inside. VERY NICE. I will for sure upload pictures when i get my camera back up and running. it looks VERY cool.

Over all, both tanks are looking FANTASTIC!!!


For the 2nd hexagon, Laura FINALLY gave in and agreed to do a African clawed foot frog tank. OR dwarf frog tank. not sure which she wants, but their pretty much the same thing.


And i will try to post a video of the tank being set up :D that is if laura will edit the video :P

Missing the bus & my adventure throughout the day :D

Public transit 101

Oh the joys of Not so public transit. Without any notice, the 502 to Aldergrove doesn't show up. after a nice 25 minute wait, being 9 minutes early for the bus, none show up. at 10:15 the bus FINALLY shows up. although it's not going to Aldergrove. so i sit and wait. and wait. and wait. for the next bus to come. which takes forever, and leaves me with a nice window of 2.5 hours till the next bus. nice eh? so here  i sit at the Aldergrove water park,  having just run into an old friend from Abbotsford, Heidi. And i know what your thinking as you read this. WHAT DOES IT HAVE TO DO WITH PETS!!! well let me tell you. Heidi &  Will have the MOST ADORABLE PUPPY IN THE ENTIRE WORLD. it is the most affectionate puppy i have ever met. imideatly, without hesitation,  rolled over and demanded belly rubs. and when i stopped, she  decided to try her hand at convincing me to bestow more tummy rubbing love on her in the way of over-zealously licking my feet. HOW ADORABLE!!!!  So i guess my bus not showing up was a blessing in  disguise, because i get to write this wonderful post about old friends and their pets. and vent about how  he park washroom here has a mighty bug infestation. HOW AM I SUPPOST TO WASH MY HANDS WHEN BEATLES ARE FALLING INTO MY NECK... not 1, not 2, but 3 bloody beetles. and all the girls in the next washroom are hearing is my profane and soprano screaming as i try to get them off me.(i hate beetles.) Too bad the pool wasn't operational, cause i could definitly use a dip in the pool hehe. and it's so  CHEAP!!!


AND because i know my mom never reads this(at least i think) i do have an admonition to make. i LOVE Aldergrove. from the farm air, to the beautiful parks, downtown Aldergrove is truly a beauty. EVEN the lack of shopping venues are ok with me. because i can hop on a bus, and in minutes, be in Abbotsford, where the BIGGEST MALL IN BC is being built right now. HOW COOL IS THAT? by now i'm sure you all know how much i LOVE SHOPPING!!!. so it must come as no surprise that Abbotsford has a certain apeal now that theres going to be WICKED shopping to be done there. In fact, if i could find a pet friendly apartment
there, within the right price range, and one that would allow my birds, cats, dog, and ALL my fish, i'd be there in a heartbeat. Not to mention light rapid  transit would be a plus. how cool would it be to get from Abbotsford to New West in 25 minutes? Well i'm going to get back to my movie, and the long wait for that
bloody bus. I'm watching The Lovely Bones right now and i must say, i'm Very impressed. it's well written story, and nice balance of Spiritual/Reality. the blending of the two worlds is very nice. whats also nice is the
water park and the nice breeze bringing wisps of cool moisture my way. Very nice :D Anyways, back to my

movie :D

Well I've finished watching the Lovely Bones now, & i have to admit it was AMAZING... It had enough thrill factor, had enough gushy parts, moments that made me tear up. Peter Jackson did an inspiring job at finishing the film. It tied all the loose ends up, unlike some of the other movies I've watched recently. A+++++x100000. Seriously, you have to see it! and i'll stop gushing over the movie now. hehe. Well i'm sitting at Timmies, South Fraser & Gladwin street Abbotsford. And like mentioned before, since my mom Rarely has time to read this, i won't hesitate to admit, i wanna live back here. i truly miss Abbotsford. only because it's so close knit, for a huge city, it feels like everything just a short walk away, the malls & shopping are all on one street, or just off it, and the area is just fantastic.


Anyways, i'm going to finish up on here, then head to a pay phone to see whats keeping Linda(Lisa's mom) since i mentioned 4pm. (as i reminisce about Lisa being late or never showing. haha sorry Lisa :P <3 ya
I think i might head to Petcetera while i'm in Abbotsford today :D

Well I've got maybe 30 minutes left on my laptop battery, might as well get in an episode of SATC :D I'll be sure to give an update as to how the Scentsy show went !!!!

Pet Solutions Pt II

Petsolutions was a bust. As i sat at my computer desk today, looking at a bird cage & some plants(Aquatic) i was forced into the realization that their products are cheap, but USPS Shipping is NOT. almost 40 $ Shipping for a filter. Pfft. so not impressed. And to top it all off, Pet Solutions can't ship LIVE ANYTHING over the boarder. i tried to see how much Brine Shrimp would cost after tax & shipping and all that, and it aint gonna happen. they can't ship living things. how sad is that? back to the drawing board. Gotta find me some brine shrimp. my fish LOVED live food.

Although pet solutions is a GREAT!!! site, for Canadians looking for Fantastic deals on aquatic related supplies, i suggest big Al's & Pacific Aquatics in surrey. I've also heard good reviews about Rogers on scott road.(surrey again)

after a few clicks, i ended up on Www.petsolutions.com , A Walmart of pets web-store. i think whats more interesting about this site is the prices AND selection. although it's no Big Als or Petsmart, the selection is unbeatable. When i go to petsmart, i want to see what I'm buying. even tho it's through a computer screen. well at pet solutions, i can see EVERYTHING. there is always multiple pictures of whats for sale.


AND they have WICKED selection of Fresh & Saltwater fish. But wait. i haven't come to the best part yet :D


THIS IS THE FIRST STORE I HAVE FOUND IN MONTHS THAT SELLS LIVE BRINE SHRIM:P!!!! now my cichlids & Tropical tanks can enjoy the wonders of LIVE food. :D so exciting.


Tropical fish wise, they have THE BRIGHTEST fish i have ever seen. most of the fish come from award winning breeders, like their Discus & cichlids. which i think is awesome. when i order my first batch of fish from there, I'll let you guy's N gal's know how they are :D

Dog grooming Part II

Well Laura and mom did a good job, She looked so good. Im not sure if Laura took pictures or not, but if they did i'll throw a few up in a bit.

So with multiple break-in's in the apartment building, I'm going to spend my day sitting at this desk making sure no one tries to nail a screw driver through my lock & Handle. (How wonderful. i spend 3 years telling everyone that my apartment is awesome aside from a not so nice landlord/owner, and that it's not typical Whalley, and what happens, we have drug dealers move in next door, & friends/neighbors get broken into. BUT a good note to this all, Neither neighbors pets got hurt.(I'd be super sad if kitties got hurt.)

Well today Laura & I get to tackle a neighbors dog. she is one of those puppies that instantly gets matted just by looking at her. Laura hasn't had much experience with dogs, she's just practicing. But she tackled Maggies dog, and she turned out well :) so hopefully this one is good :D I'll ad pictures & More info later, Migraines & Bright computer screens don't mix well.

Big Al's Pet store(ONLINE) Possible Filter review & HEXAGON HOOD(FINALLY!!!)

In my quest to utilize some PayPal bucks that I've accumulated from Live-person, i decided to give Big Al's Pet store a try.

I found their pricing to be VERY reasonable, as I've mentioned before, i'm a huge fan of petsmart, only because their pet supplies are SO CHEAP. well Big Al's is maybe 50-75 cents either way diffrence, (i'm thinking a 22lb bag of gravel) so there pretty much equal. And really, how much does it cost me to get there, and back,  Plus grabbing a coffee on the way, i end up spending like 10 bucks after I've left the house just on the trip & Food alone. How much easier is it to sit at home, in pj's, and go pet store shopping ? SUPER EASY!!!!


Lets not forget the BEST PART EVER!!!. I found a hexagon hood for my tank :D :D :D :D :D it's a plastic hood, WITH LIGHT. my tank is 17.2inches wide, the hood fits 18inches wide. the width of the panels is 10 inches, my hex is 9.8inches. so it's pretty damn close. I've been looking for a hex hood for MONTHS!!!!!. since Lorne found me my first hexagon.(yay for crappy Tenants who trash an apartment & then leave all their junk behind. *TWO THUMBS UP*) except Lorne & i had to tidy the place up. well mostly Lorne, i helped a lil bit :P


PLUS i found a few new filters i wanna give a shot. REVIEWS coming ASAP soon as i get em. they are called -            
 - Penn plax cascade 200 power filter. i eventually want to give a good review of the CANISTER filters of the same brand name, but that will be for the eventual discus tank. :D

Hexagons are FUN!!!

I decided to share my Hexagon fish tanks with the world today. I LOVE Them so much, i have a tropical and cichlid tank, and the cichlid one is still under construction, but coming along nicely :D

So I promised some of my facebook friends a picture or video update of my sisters new fish tank that  i just designed, it's not done, were still planting it, but for the most part it's looking pretty good. i still have to build the Hood for the tank, it came without a lid(YAY for petsmart's breeder tanks :D.

I bought three ghost shrimp from petsmart, they were .99Cents each, and one of them died :-( poor Invertebre's. but at .99C each, i'm not too worried about replacing it. probably stress. We got some Corkscrew plants, some caladara(did i spell that right? i hope so), Some tall Grassy plant, & of course a few "Bamboo" ish plants. I don't have the proper Fish tank lights yet, i just bought her a cheap "GLOBE" florescent light. I'm going to take the fixture into King Ed or Pacific Aquatics and get a Floramax Light bulb for her tank, & 1 i believe it's called a Grow or Glow light? it's for accenting Tropical fish colors. and of course a Black or Blue florescent light so that the tank has set day & night times. The hood should take me a few weeks to assemble and get up & running, and i might just invest in the same set up for my tank. LAURA!!! UR ONE LUCKY GURL FOR GETTING YOUR TANK DONE FOR FREE!!!! BC Exotic Bird Society` and a fish tank update :)

A very close friend of mine is a member of the BC Exotic Bird Society, a group that caters to the special birds of the world. they bring everything in from Finches to Budgies, Love birds to parrots. it's a program that does such good work within the community, what with fostering & Adopting out birds in need of a good home. a lot of people don't realize that there's a lot more to having a bird than a cage & the animal. and they usually end up getting in over their head when they learn the needs & requirements of these beautiful creatures. I was inspired to write about this because my birds, 2 lovebirds Kiwi & Mango, and a cockatiel - Big Bird.. My friend had a HUGE amount of birds and i offered to take a pair of lovebirds & the cockatiel, and fell in love with them. There the most loving companions anyone could get.




We decided to have another good friend in for tea today and Big bird was wolf whistling at her.(he was really friendly today, and i think really liked Vicki :D) Big bird was singing, whistling, and just making sure he's exceptionally loud :) He must be heard lol




And sadly, We lost another Cichlid(petsmart) and another guppy(Petsmart) And a Frog(Petsmart)...




I've come to the realization that petsmart fish aren't the greatest. I'll still buy my Shrimp from petsmart, and MOST if not ALL of my decorations, since like i've been told, they are the cheapest place for ALL DECORATIONS. even their plants. there all under 4.00$, i did Laura's tank for under 10. what i liked about the plants from petsmart , i got 3 corkscrew plants, and 1 thingy? is that a new word? it's a thingy in the tank. haha i can't remember what it's called but it's big. the corkscrews are popping up around the tank. every day i see a little bit of green coming up somewhere new. it's fantastic.

Animals & Candles DON'T MIX!!! and my discovery of Scentsy

Well a few years ago, i decided to make my mom a room for her to relax in our rental in abbotsford. The room was pretty small so i just used it as a "SPA" room. it was very relaxing :D i was so proud of myself, had candles everywhere, had a very zen oasis for mom to relax. she was being stubborn, and decided to sit upstairs and not come down. so as i was fighting with her, one of my cats, Charlie decided to check out the room. he said "Screw the flames" and walked with confidence through each and every candle. making sure to singe his tail. by the time i got downstairs, his tail was SMOKING!!!. now these weren't good candles, they were cheap dollar store candles. lead filled crap. I assumed Charlie was just staging a protest against the crap candles. after moving to surrey tho, he decided to surprise me again, and singed himself on my nice partylite candles. even dumped a few onto the floor.(evil kitty didn't know how expensive they were).


So we've learn't that it doesn't matter how cheap or expensive the candle is, charlie is just a pyromaniac!!!. well last october i was surfing through facebook, not sure what i was looking at, but thanks to Facebook Pay/per/click ads, and a wonderful woman named Liz, i was introduced to Scentsy Wickless Candles!!!

The basics are this.

You start with HIGHLY Scented wax,  a ceramic warmer, and a 15-25 watt lightbulb. The wax is melted by the heat from the lightbulb, and scent wafts through the house for HOURS & HOURS... I don't mind admitting I'm the biggest sceptic. but HONESTLY & TRUTHFULLY, The wax lasts FOREVER!!!(not forever, but 1 bar i have got over 300 Hours out of it !!! thats INSANE for a 6$ bar of wax..


I'm guessing a lot of you have a love of scented candles. and with pets, scentsy is the way to go. it's cheap, economical, and pet friendly. your family won't be breathing in harmful soot or lead, and you won't have to worry about a wick or flame !!!


My favorite part about scentsy is that This year, in january, we launched a PAWS warmer. a warmer devoted  to all us pet lovers. It has paw prints on it, and says I Love Pets. It's stunning.


Anyways, now that i've spent the past 20 minutes rambling about Charlie's obsession with flames, and my love of scentsy wickless candles, I'll say my goodbyes :D  I've gotta get ready for camping :D (hopefully it doesn't rain haha)

Fish tank hairs?!?!? & Picky eaters

As i walk into my room to feed my fish in my hexagon tank, I've started to notice these little clear hairs all over the glass(Inside?) i have no clue what they are but the tank looks like it's waving at me(i should post a video) Trust me to come across something i don't know in the first 2 months of having my first cichlid tank set up PFFT!!!!

The pleco & catfish do their job wonderfully, they never stop sucking things.(oh how bad that sounded) but seriously, there cleaning like CRAZY!!!. Does anyone know what these little waving Clear hairs are? my first thought was snails, but i don't have any in my tank. I'm at a total loss. the funny thing is that tank is in a room with NO natural light. Hmm.


I'M STUMPED!!!!


Well on to bigger & better things. like trying to find a dog food my puppy WILL eat. this month i've tried him on Iams, Bentiful(did i spell that right?), Ceasers, Orijin, Even Authority(petsmart). Most of which were wet foods, the little bugger won't eat anything i give him. i've locked him in the bathroom to finish his food and it sits there, eventually to be dumped in the garbage. If i knew how difficult it would be to feed a dog i would have stuck with fish. i'd have better luck with a picky Discus than this adorable puppy.

Misadventures in pet-keeping

I'm not new in the world of pets, but I'm not an expert either. I'm a human being. I learn from trial & error just like every one else. I'll admit to having my first fish tank all die from doing a total water change. I sometimes forget to clean out the litter box every day. I'll even cover up the birds if they get too loud. I'm no angel. I decided to share my misadventures with the world, maybe throw in some product reviews, and explore my love of fish keeping with all of you wonderful folks on the net.

In the future, you can expect to see reviews of such things like Aquarium Filters, gadgets, cat&dog toys, Pet foods, Kitty litter, You name it, i'll probably give it a shot. I'll also be sharing my exploration into the more advanced world of fish keeping. Cichlids, Discus & eventually salt water. maybe even explore some aquatic reptiles with you guys&gals. sounds like fun eh? I'm excited!!!
